Hi, I'm Cate Marie Magoffin, Principal Designer and founder of Cate Marie Interiors. I've been obsessed with how spaces feel since I was five years old, when I talked my parents into letting me pick out my bedspread. I chose pink fuzzy roses. No regrets.
Decades later, after a fulfilling career in marketing and strategy (where I often rearranged the hotel room furniture on business trips), that lifelong instinct is now the work I was always meant to do. My marketing, design and strategy background means I don't just make rooms look good. I make them work.
My work spans the Columbia River corridor: Portland, Lake Oswego, Vancouver, Ridgefield, Camas, and out to the coastal towns. Recent projects include a Camas Parade of Homes refresh, the renovation of my moody 1936 Tudor in Portland, and a minimalist Columbia River cottage that became a five-star Airbnb, proof that great design doesn't require an unlimited budget.
Great design starts with great questions. Every project starts with you. Your home, your life, the way you actually move through your space every day. What lights you up. I ask a lot of questions before I ever suggest a finish or pull a fabric. That discovery process is what transforms a good-looking room into one that feels like it could never have belonged to anyone else.
With 20+ years in the Pacific Northwest, I love this region from the mountains to the coast. I also love to travel. Spain and France are favorites, and Japan and Ireland are next. It keeps my eye fresh and my perspective wide. That curiosity about spaces, cultures, and what makes a place feel special and alive is what I bring to every single project.
Ready to bring some soul and sophistication to your space? Let's talk.
